Unite Policy Conference 2021
After many postponements because of the pandemic, our chair Tony Woodhouse will open Unite’s Policy conference in the great working class city of Liverpool at 1pm on Monday 18 October .
Unite’s biennial Policy Conference is the highest policy making body in our union. It is the supreme expression of workers’ democracy as hundreds of delegates from all of Unite’s sectors, equalities strands and regions and nations come together for a week to discuss and decide on the policy of our great socialist-led union for the next two years.
The conference will start with composites and motions on the Green Industrial Revolution, including a just transition for workers.
As we struggle out of the pandemic it is increasingly obvious that it is not capitalism or its Tory party that has any interest in addressing the catastrophic deindustrialisation of the UK and the existential threat of the climate emergency. It is working people collectively organised in their trade unions and communities who have the conviction and the capacity to address these life-threatening disasters.
Our conference will address these critical issues on Monday – as will our United Left fringe meeting (see details below).
