Following Liverpool dockers’ announcement of their second round of industrial action demanding an inflation proof pay increase, the employer issued formal redundancy notices to 132 workers.
These plans had previously been proposed and dropped.
Six hundred Liverpool port workers are demanding an above inflation pay rise. The latest offer from employer Peel Ports was 8.2 per cent – a real terms pay cut.
Two more weeks of action have already been announced. The strikes will continue from Monday 24 October until 7 November.
The Liverpool dockers are asking for solidarity action across the UK.
