The People’s Assembly Against Austerity organised the protest, called “Britain is Broken”. It included trade unions Unite, UNISON, NEU, CWU, UCU, RMT and ASLEF and campaigns including Just Stop Oil, Extinction Rebellion, anti-racism groups and Justice for Grenfell also joined the march.

The People’s Assembly said the protesters were demanding an immediate general election, action on low pay and the repeal of “anti-union” employment laws.
