See below an appeal from the PCS for support in their dispute at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office involving cleaners, porters and maintenance workers.
I am writing to you to ask for your support for a current PCS dispute with Interserve who provide facilities management services to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).
PCS members provide cleaning, maintenance and portering services at the FCO started a month-long strike on the 3 February due to:
- Imposition of contractual pay changes,
- Unilaterally reducing the working hours of cleaners,
- Non payment of company sick pay from day one,
- Refusal to recognise PCS for collective bargaining.
This follows 18 days’ action since May 2019 which resulted in ACAS talks but the employer changed the terms of the agreement at the last minute. Many of those involved are low paid, migrant workers, who are first time union members.
